Mempats Tree 越南黃牛木, 俗称新加坡樱花

 Mempats Tree 越南黃牛木俗称新加坡樱花 (2020 0828)

The flowers of Vietnamese Mempats are small, only 1.3 to 2.5 cm wide after blooming, and they are pink. The trunk is gray and scaly. It can be as high as 45 meters in foreign countries and 10 meters in local areas. When the late Premier Lee Kuan Yew presided over the launching ceremony of the National Tree Planting Movement in 1963, he planted this flower tree at Farrer Circus used to be at the junction of Farrer Rd and Holland Rd. There’s still a lovely grove of Mempats (黄牛木) there.
