Founded in 1894, the first Peranakan churches and the fourth Methodist church to be established in Singapore. The building along Kampong Kapor Road was designed by the architectural firm of Swan and Maclaren. Construction was completed in 1930. The church (sanctuary) was then declared the Bishop Bickley Memorial in remembrance of Bishop Bickley whose family donated a large amount towards its construction.
This unique quasi-Art Deco design of the building has made the church a landmark in Little India, and it is also a conserved building.
